Reverse Registry!! Brilliant. We have just moved into a new home and have a pile of stuff we don’t need in this space. This is what we’ll do when we welcome friends and neighbors here - offer these things as a Reverse Housewarming sort of thing! Thank you for this delightful idea!

Happy Anniversary!

Loved the article about the Sacred Harp. I was reminded of the Scottish tradition of "keening" as a way to give voice to grief. Scholars think that it derived from people listening to seagulls and imitating their cries. It then became a way of expressing feeling. Keening is an ancient practice. We've lost so much in our so-called "modern world." Thank goodness for those who preserve these very human traditions. They are blessed.

Happy Anniversary! Cheers to many more.☕️☕️

Maybe, one day, you’ll expand your visits to include Toronto, Ontario, although, we’re not red. LOL. Peace and love to you both.

Happy Anniversary! I loved reading the Sacred Harp article as we took the train to the Denver airport for our journey back to Pennsylvania. We so enjoyed Denver's beautiful weather this week and I loved the opportunity to sing from the Sacred Harp there. To more singing for all of us this year!

It was such a joy to sing with you on Monday!!

Thank you, it was a joy for me, too. Finding local singings when I travel is my favorite way to meet new friends and reconnect with old friends.

Today, my Sabbath, I paid attention to some of what you are doing here for the first time. Thank you. I have published one serious book, have a couple more underway, and have a couple of concerns that are not shared widely in the world. Your invitation to join you here "...in the corner" touched me. Thank you for the invitation.

One of my current conclusions is that what is needed in the world right now needs to come from an entity we vaguely understand as "us" or "we", and not from "me" or "I". Somehow your writing, pictures, and invitation resonate with that sensibility.

But, ... here's the rub. We modern sophisticates of the 21st century, emerging amongst riches and blessings that would have been impossible to dream of 100 years ago, are oblivious to the extent that we are busy designing and defining our worlds and futures in our everyday conversations. And we are at once incompetent for "doing" those conversations and deeply satisfied with the illusion of our competence for communicating with each other.

We whine, complain, and despair over our psychological conditions, and have no concern for the fact that we are missing competence for talking with each other about the great mischiefs of our age. Too easily we follow our leaders as they tell us which are the "others" who are responsible for the difficulties we encounter in our worlds.

With what temptations, what incentives, what prizes, what promises might we be able to call our contemporaries to attend to our communicative incompetence?
