Some difficult news...
I’ll just get right to it:
Late this Summer I received a shitty medical diagnosis (the details of which I am keeping private for now - but knowing me I’m sure I’ll write about it all eventually).
Which is why, sadly, I had to cancel all my public appearances from Oct 27th through the end of the year. It is not lost on me that over the course of the 21 Red State Revivals I hosted, I said the following: We all, at some point in our lives, will have the stones of our own temples quietly crumble underneath us. There will be times when everything in our lives goes from hashtag blessed to hashtag screwed.
Changes like this happen in such a deliriously quick manner that a certain amount of disorientation is unavoidable. And when that kind of change comes — fast and disorienting — it can make writing for an audience feel sorta impossible … for a while.
So I’m taking a short leave of absence for medical treatment, and to orient myself to a new normal, which means stepping away from The Corners — not for long, just for a bit.
But I want to honor this community and the trust you’ve placed in me. So while I’m away, The Corners will be in very good hands. I’ve asked some of my friends — truly, the coolest roster of substitute teachers ever — to write here in my absence. Check your inboxes in the next five or six weeks for writings from:
And…honest to God, a first ever post by my very own husband, Eric!
(and maybe a surprise guest!)
One or two of the posts while I am away will be for everyone, but most will be just for paid subscribers and some will be a mix of both with a generous chunk for everyone.
The Corners is in good hands and so am I.
Thank you for sticking with me.
See you on the other side.
Sending you all so much love and gratitude,
Nadia
