I heard a sermon in which the pastor said, "If we wanted to do God's will as much as we want to know His will, we would know it."

That's stuck with me for over 40 years.

I no longer pray about knowing God's will. I just trust that ultimately that His will shall result in what He wants. It makes praying a lot easier--and I can be grateful for whatever comes my way.

I once heard that a rudder cannot steer a boat unless it is moving. I need reminded all the time (like today) that if I want to know God's will sometimes I need to takes a step (or leap) in faith.

Thank you. I really needed this today. My assholeness was threatening to take over and ruin the day.

Love it—my new word for the day is ‘assholeness.’ LOL.

Thank you Anne. You always write as if I’m walking with a friend who is telling me about their life and helping me along the way. You are truly a gift.

Nadia-peace to you today and always. I hope you are feeling prayed for and loved.

If you run into an asshole first thinking the morning...you ran into an asshole. If you run into assholes all daylong.. you're the asshole.

That was a great show. I don't remember that quote from the show, not surprising, but I'm saving it now!

I've been reading an interesting book, "The Unthinkable - Who Survives When Disaster Strikes - And Why" by Amanda Ripley, which talks about dread and perception of risk. Dread from flying in planes, for example, is great because one can easily imagine the explosion and falling 20,000 feet; also it is palpable because we can CHOOSE to fly or not, and thus control it. No one has a dread of heart attacks, or auto accidents, which kill many more people that plane crashes.

So, we are all afraid of the wrong things most of the time. Sleep well, my dears.

My body and I are arguing over what is the acceptable level of cortisol that won't kill me. Will try the trust and surrender antidote. Thank you ❤️

My prayers go out to you for a speedy recovery. Think I read all your books, but Accidental Saints strands

Anne- Thanks for your hilarious honesty and eloquence. Our Writing Group has read at least your Top Five, and we aspire to your hopeful realism.

Nadia - God's healing mercies on you today. You are a blessing here and when you visited our Red State in St. Louis. We have a neighborhood group with aspirations to meet a second time. Lord, shed blessings on Nadia today.

Ahh. Thank you. Your struggle helps normalize mine. “…praying only for knowledge of God’s will for us and the power to carry that out.” NA 11th Step.

Amen - not always easy but so necessary, I find that grace is taking me to trust and surrender, but along the way brings healing and understanding of why I find it so hard

Anne-How do you know me so well? Yes- how many prayers have I said that focused on what He already knew? Trust and surrender works- thank God He knows what I need and what to do!

In it with you and Nadia-

I’ve loved reading your substitute teacher for years. Annie knows how to share the real and the ugly and the beautiful. Just like you Nadia. Thank you for the share today. I pray I won’t be an asshole today to those I love.

I find now minimizing content from social media and news outlets enables me to think and then surrender to God's guidance, trusting what to trust is hard these days. Also thank you for the their pronoun him for God. I have used her as a pronoun which raises eyebrows and I now admit leaves out part of the picture.

In my opinion, God is the first They/Them/Theirs which really raises eyebrows in some circles. Peace.

Also, this photo of Anne—-it’s by her son, and look at her expression of love for him. Just beautiful!
