Someone on FB just commented that in season 2 of CHEER, Ladarius (who made Monica his substitute mom) did the same thing to her. I loved the scene at the end where they forgave each other, and I felt her pain when he betrayed her. Another commenter said that what her kids needed that season was for her to hire a therapist for them, not to build a stage for them. truth.

First, thank you for this list! Then getting to Nate, I was very sad that Nate took such a turn, And I watched Coach Beard watching him turn that way and trying to help him. But you are completely correct we have to do the work in whatever aspect that we need to work to be done. Thank you so much!

God, Nate is so us. Or certainly me. Like you, I need Nate to get some sort of self-understanding, self-healing redemption arc because *I* need a self-understanding, self-healing redemption arc. Please and thank you, God, and the writers of Ted Lasso. Amen.

I have not watched Ted Lasso, but the Love as Lidocaine is where I am now. Only I see it. I have just written "This feeling of being only just OK might be ameliorated by a sense of being loved, but I need constant reassurance of being loved and loveable. This makes me terribly vulnerable."

(My blog's great! Check it out!!!)

Shameless self-promotion over-

That Richard Rohr quote fits too. I am definitely trying to process the pain rather than pass it on. For me, the problem of needing to claim I am OK even when I am not has become unbearable. It is probably inherited. It is terrifying to show anyone I am not OK.

So, hello. My name is Abigail, and I am not OK.

I would add to the list... " What dreams may come" starring Robin Williams. Beautiful redemption story.

Well, now I'll have to watch Ted and Nate. As for the list of TV/Movies, one of my all time favorites was missing.....Resurrection (with Ellen Burstyn). Highly recommended. Thanks.

WOW, and thank you. My partner and I finished (binged) the entire last season just last night. We both love your insight and use your podcasts to teleport during long road trips with our boys. Thanks again for all you do.

You made Nate so relatable.

I’ve not seen Ted Lasso yet, but the description of Nate makes me want to watch the program. I see so much of myself in the description of the character. Also, your list of films with faith and prayer captured my attention, especially Places in the Heart. The communion scene is so very powerful. The first time I saw the scene I was also stunned to realize that I had preached from that pulpit once upon a time.

Oh how wonderful. I am aware of the Ted Lasso Canon 😊 but cant afford pay for view TV. Luckily people like to write about episodes in great detail. You hit hard here Nadia. I don't do this exactly like Nate but I'm well aware I spend way too much time thinking about how I'm perceived. I know where it comes from. I also know the people pleasing vs doing gets worse when in organisations I kept caught up in subtexts between others and try to fix stuff that has no bearing on me instead of just doing the best I can. This week I'm spending time reading about Hospitality to myself. Last week it was Gods hospitality. This week myself and next week Hospitality to your neighbour via the Love one Another. Ts a 4 week lectio divina by the Benedictine Nuns at Jamberoo Abbey in NSW. I don't eve know what a lectio was a year ago! I'm starting to use that term - 'Hospitality' instead of the term "self care" which sparks loathing in me. Hmm, I think I've tangented. I'm keeping this post active as part of my Lectio and thank you Nadia for gently reminding me that despite my wounds I am enough and I don't have spend time begging at peoples feet for approval. 💜🙏💜

This is an excellent piece, thanks for the insite. I didnt have it together enought to see what you saw, I just thought typical hollywood has to ruin everything... I am lucky to have seen Ted Lasso as a friend recommended it and I got a trial with Apple.
